Master graduate wanting to teach in UAE

Hello,

I am new to the Teach Away webiste. I have been looking for teaching or senior administrative roles in the UAE. However, many of the jobs require a certification. Will the TEFL suffice this requirement? I do not want to invest in a certificatiion that will not yield the outcoume that I would like especially since my masters in not in english but I do have one year of teach experience abroad.

Any tips on how I can secure employement in Dubai would be greatly apprecaited or how I can make my teach away profile stronger.

    Hi Ashley,

    Most (if not all) positions in the UAE require teachers to have a Bachelor's degree and a teaching license. Unfortunately a TEFL Certificate is not enough, but there are many ESL opportunities in Asia for someone with a Bachelor's and TEFL Certificate.

    Thank you Jen. So is it fair to say my Masters is not enough even with the TEFL? At the college level is my Masters enough?

    Hi Ashley,
    No, unfortunately a Master's degree with a TEFL certificate is not enough to teach in the UAE, even if you just wanted to teach ESL. A teacher's license is a strict requirement for countries in the Middle East. There are LOTS of other ESL opportunities in other parts of the world however, so take a look at our job board to see what piques your interest :)

    hello
    I am a Mechanical Engineering Graduate and also completed my M.Tech. and having the 3 years teaching experience at the engineering college in India. I want to know what kind of certificates and licences are required to join the teaching profession in abroad.
    please tell me in detail so that i can proceed as early as possible for the same.

    Hi Kuldeep,

    Welcome to the Teach Away Community. Typically, you will need a Bachelors of Education if you are looking to teach engineering.

    Hi,

    I am a masters graduate in space science and with 1 year lecturing experience in University and 1 year technical instructor position in industry.

    I would like to teach mathematics in the middle east, would my degree and experiences be enough?

    Hi Louis,

    Thanks for inquiring.

    Our teaching positions in the middle east do require candidates to have at least two years of licensed teaching experience. Unfortunately, it looks like you wouldn't qualify at the current time.

    However, the Teach Away job board is also home to lots of ESL instructing positions. For positions in China (the Explore Program), you can apply before you're TEFL certified! Apply to teach English in China here: https://www.teachaway.com/explore-program.
