TEFL or IELTS which is good ? Or both are same ? Shall I take IELTS instead of TEFL? If no please describe why ?
Hi Jessie, the IELTS is a proficiency test, typically for people who want to work or study in an English speaking country. (For example if you are from a non-English speaking country and you want to work in an English speaking one.) The TEFL, which stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language, is for teachers who want to teach English to non-native speakers. The TEFL is accepted worldwide as a certification that helps you with your teaching, whereas the IELTS is really just to test your proficiency.
We have a partnership with the University of Toronto for an online TEFL course. You can learn more about the TEFL here: https://www.teachaway.com/tefl-certification
For some JOBS it says: Non native English speakers will be required to provide an IELTS Score ranging from 6.0 - 7.5 depending on the subject they are applying for. BUT DOESNT SAY WHAT IELTS EXAM since there are two: academic and general training. WHICH ONE IS REQUIRED?
Hello Angie:
You can provide the test score for either if it is not specified in the position listing
Good luck with your applications Best, Shirin
Yeah I agree that IELTS is a proficiency test, usually taken by the people who wish to work or study in an English speaking country. I also wanted to get Canadian work visa but it was super difficult until I passed IELTS. I would like to thank the instructors at institute for ielts coaching in mohali who had prepared me for this test.
Hello Janice, Is IELTS required the same day of the F-T-F interview or after to confirm and get the job offer ? For English Teachers , which score is required? Thanks for your time.
