What do you mean when you say Licensed teacher? A person with a teaching degree eg. BEd, isnt he licensed to teach?

    Hi John,

    When you say "BEd" are you referring to Behavior/Emotional Disabilities? Just asking because that is one of my certifications also.

    A licensed teacher has completed their degree in their chosen area (Elem Ed, HS History, HS Mathematics, etc), AND has passed what is known as the PRAXIS (In Missouri) or whatever your specific state or country requires.
    Just because you have a degree in elementary education does not mean you are a certified/licensed teacher.

    Nurses graduate with a bachelors in nursing, but are required to pass state boards before they can practice. Same rule applies to teaching.

    BEd=Bachelors in Education.

    A license rewarded from an educational state agency. For example my license is through Virginia Department of Education that I have to renew every couple of years. With this license I qualify to teach in UAE

    I am an MBA degree holder with more than 5 years of experience in teaching Business Studies and Accounting of IGCSE Curriculum at Beaconhouse School, an institution that has international presence.
    Even with the experience do I still need to get a license and/or a certificate to prove my ability as a teacher and to apply for teaching jobs overseas?

    This licensing is done by which body since i am a Kenyan and i am licensed to teach by Teachers Service Commission of Kenya , here locally

    In UAE you get a job offer from any school private or public. Then they register you with education council and you are licensed by ADEC.
