Any experiences working/applying to "direct to job" posting?

Has anyone had any negative experiences applying to and working directly with a "direct to job" school? Should this be a cause for concern that the job posting is listed this way? The school I've applied to is California International Academies in Beijing. Better yet, has anyone had experience working for this school?

    Hi Ben, I don't work with this school in particular, but I just wanted to chime in and let you know the difference between the "direct to job" posts and other postings. The direct to job postings are a solution for schools who want to use us as a means of tapping into a database of teachers who are looking to teach abroad but prefer to keep the recruitment process to themselves. This could be because they already have a built in HR or recruitment department.

    My recommendation to you is to apply to a variety of jobs (mix of both direct to job and not) and see how you feel during the interviews with them. Prepare questions for the schools, especially direct to job posts, and see how they respond to see if it's a good fit for you. Hope that helps!

    Ben,

    I have been much more successful in obtaining offers from "Direct" positions. In fact, I have no offers from Teachaway advertised roles where the TA recruiter is the gatekeeper as it were.

    CAI specifically is one to research further. I was offered a sort of "district-level" curriculum director role in China with them a year ago but declined. A few months later, they went through a total overhaul where many of the higher level administrators, CEO, etc turned over. They were branded as CAI/Tri Valley Learning at that point last August. If you go to their website and pull the board meeting minutes you'll get a snapshot of what happened and things there may very well be running smoothly now. Best of luck!
