New Graduate applying to UAE & Qatar

Hi everyone,

I've recently just graduated from cardiff univeristy in economics and social studies (BScEcon) and I'm from Ireland. I want to go teaching abroad but a little confused about when and how I should get my TEFL Licence or any licence for that matter. If I get accepted into a position will I be able to get the the TEFL Cert while being on the job or must I have it prior to applying to any positions for a graduate?

I don't want to pay for a tefl cert and then not be able to use it, this is my only fear.

Would apprecriate some feedback :)

    Hi Darragh,

    Welcome to the Teach Away Community. Totally understandable with regards to paying for the TEFL certification and not being able to use it. You can check each individual job posting of interest to see if a TEFL certificate is absolutely required. Some might not necessarily need one. That being said, having the TEFL certificate will definitely help you stand out against others who may not have it. We also recommend you try to get any in-classroom ESL teaching experience if you can and this will help your job application greatly.
