CELTA or TEFL

Hello
I have PhD in English Language and Literature and have been teaching for four years at universities in my country. I have decided to teach English in countries like Japan, China, Korea or Dubai. I just need to know whether I need a CELTA or TEFL to find English teaching job (since I have a PhD and four years of teaching experience)?

    Hi Davood,

    Great question, thanks for asking.

    Determining the type of ESL instructor certification is best for you can be a tad complicated on the surface. Fret not, though - I have the info you're after.

    On Teach Away, all of our ESL instructor positions have the following requirements:
    - TEFL certification (accepted by all is the University of Toronto OISE TEFL Online certification, who we partner with - check it out at https://teflonline.teachaway.com)
    - Native English speaker
    - Bachelor's degree

    Alternatively, CELTA may be acceptable at some schools overseas, although it tends to be a more specific certification with more frequent limitations. I recommend TEFL.
