Good morning! I am researching teaching positions in South America, can anyone give insights?
Good day to you Dave,
Did you ever get any input from a Teach Away representative in regard to your question?
Respectfully, Steven
Hey there, Dave and Steven!
(Steven, thanks for bumping this up,)
We do have some positions in Central and South America right now:
- Brazil --> https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=Brazil&jcat=All&sub=All - Colombia --> https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=Colombia&jcat=All&sub=All - Guatemala --> https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=Guatemala&jcat=All&sub=All - Haiti --> https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=Haiti&jcat=All&sub=All - Honduras --> https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=Honduras&jcat=All&sub=All - Mexico --> https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=Mexico&jcat=All&sub=All
For future, the country dropdown filter on this page (https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad) always lists all the countries we currently have positions in!
Let me know if either of you have further questions and thank you for your patience!
Brett
Hello and thanks for this Brett,
I have been exploring this website and I like what I am seeing thus far! I have applied to a few positions and will continue doing so. A question I have is, "Is it considered too pushy if I contact schools directly?"
Thank you for any help you can offer in regard to this.
Hi Steven,
While it might not be considered "too pushy" to contact a school directly, it's not the best way to get ahold of the right person at the school (the person in charge of making hiring decisions). Simply put, schools choose to hire through Teach Away because of the efficiency and quality of teachers applying for positions here.
Every posting on the Teach Away website is either handled by our recruitment team here at Teach Away, which means that the school has chosen to have us take care of initial screening and then send them qualified candidates for next steps in the hiring process, OR it is a direct-to-school position, which means your application will be sent directly to the appropriate contact at the hiring school.
My best advice - and it might seem redundant if you've read this elsewhere on the Teach Away website - is to apply for multiple positions that you're qualified for and interested in. I recommend applying for many positions with the understanding that thousands of teachers are active on our site and also checking back regularly as we are frequently updating our job board with new opportunities.
You can find some great application tips here --> https://www.teachaway.com/blog/what-schools-look-your-teach-away-profile-video.
Let me know if you have further questions!
All the best in your job search, Brett
Thank you for your input Brett!
I understand what you mean and I will heed your advice. So far I've applied to 15 jobs that I believe I am qualified for and I'll keep pushing for more. I did watch that video and I have been using a variety of the resources you all have here. I am excited for the opportunity but I also know patience is needed in this lengthy process.
If I have any other questions I will most certainly ask...Thank you again for your help!
