When do I need to check the box "this experience is after I received my teaching qualification"?

Hello,

My name is Saadiqa. I have a CELTA certificate from ILSC and I have been teaching ESL in Montreal for the past 5 years. When completing my profile, I am asked if my experience is after I received my teaching qualification. Is the CELTA certificate considered as a valid teaching certification and what do they mean by obtaining a certification from a government body in my home country. Would TESL Canada be considered as a goverment body to issue a teaching certification?

Also, I am currently completing a Masters in Education. However, because I haven't finished, I am not a licenced science teacher yet. But, I am able to get a teaching permit. This permit is a temporary license granting an individual the status of a legally qualified teacher in the province of Quebec and it is good for a 5 year period from the date issued. If I have this permit, can I check the box which says "this experience is after I received my teaching qualification"?

    Hi Saadiqa,
    Thanks for tuning into our webinar yesterday. I'm just going to repost my response here in case anyone has a similar question. The CELTA certificate would not be considered a teaching certification. Rather, the qualification must be from a regional teacher licensing authority. For your teaching permit, if it is issued by this body (your regional teacher licensing authority), then you may check "yes", that this experience is after you have received your teaching qualification.
