Do you need to have a BA in English to be considered for ADEC positions?

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this discussion but I was just wondering about undergraduate qualifications.
I am a certified teacher with 11 years experience in the classroom including four years internationally teaching English. I am currently teaching High School English in Australia and have applied to both middle and high school sectors with ADEC. My undergraduate majored in History and Psychology though in my teaching qualification I majored in ESL. Am I suitably qualified for a position with ADEC?

    Hello Sarah:

    Welcome to the forum and it sounds like you have great experience and qualifications under your belt. With these qualifications, your application will be strong for positions in the UAE.
    In terms of UAE-specific positions, the general requirements across the board include (this might change over time):

    1. A Bachelor's degree, at minimum
    2. A current teaching license from your local government, or A TESL/TEFL certification, relevant to whatever subject you wish to teach (for example, if you wanted to teach math, you will need a teaching license in math; a TESL or TEFL is not a teaching license)
    3. Two years of relevant teaching experience at the required teaching level (for example, if you were applying to teach high school level English, then you would need to have had at least two years of teaching high school English; elementary or middle school level would not be accepted)
