Hello,

I was searching for jobs and was confused  with the eligibility requirements for teaching. If it says

Eligible Candidates: Licensed Teacher, University Graduate, ESL Instructor

Will this require any TEFL, TESOL certificate? Is being a Licensed Teacher or University Graduate enough?

    Hi Ervin, this will depend on the other job requirements listed. If it doesn't mention TESOL or TEFL, that means you don't need to have it. A teaching license will always be more widely accepted than a TESOL or TEFL certificate, so if you have that, you will qualify for more jobs than with only a general university degree and TEFL.

    For that particular line you pasted, I can't tell you if you need a TEFL certificate because it's out of context.

    Thanks for that Janice, another question. Will passing the IELTS be an added credential in applying a job especially for ICT teaching jobs that does not require Teaching Licenses?

    Hi Ervin, the IELTS is an English proficiency test and is unrelated to teaching, so it's not necessary.
