I recently applied for a few positions and all three were closed on the same day. I'd like to find out why before I apply for others. Thank you!
I had the same experience… What are the next steps? How does this happen?
Hi Stacey, I can't see the particular reasons for why your job application was closed, but seeing as you have a lot of experience teaching Special Education, I encourage you to focus your application efforts there. Here's a link to the job board with those positions filtered: https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?mefibs-form-sf-loc=All&mefibs-form-sf-jcat=Certified+Teacher&mefibs-form-sf-lvl=A...
Good luck!
Yes, I meet all qualifications, the position was closed. Are they looking for younger teachers?
Hi Pamela, unfortunately I can't see the particular reasons for why your job application was closed, but I can't seem to find a certificate for a teacher qualification on your teacher dashboard -- only an administrator qualification. Most of the teaching positions in the Middle East do require a teacher qualification, but if you have the right experience and an admin qualification, you could apply to positions relevant to you (principal, counselor, etc.) Hope that helps!
I also had the same experience. On face value I met all the requirements in terms of teaching qualifications and experience. Their system has no feedback in case of an unsuccessful application. If they are receiving thousands of applications (presumably!) then it makes business sense to give feedback to successful applicants only, considering this is a free service for job applicants! The challenge is that as an applicant, you then must somehow figure out what needs fixing in your profile: CV, documentation, certification, etc (if it can be fixed!) There is also a chance that your profile is perfect, but someone with better credentials was selected. As such, you just need to continue applying and one day your profile will the best one of the particular lot being reviewed! Problem is, this is all guesswork! I feel that the agency is missing a genuine revenue stream. I feel that many applicants would be prepared to pay a certain fee to get value-adding feedback from them (I would!) than continue probing in the dark! Even if they tell you that for certain technical reasons (spelt out) your profile has very little chance of being considered-its better to know!
Hi Fhatani, thank you for your understanding and great feedback. We'll definitely have a think as to what we can do to improve this.
As for your profile, I took a quick look and although I can't see the particular reasons for why your job apps were closed, it seems you have great experience teaching math. I think you should definitely focus on applying to math teaching positions as this seems to be what you focused on in the past 6 years (as opposed to applying to science/physics positions). Good luck!
Soooo...I guess no one from TeachAway is going to address my question...thanks.
Hi Kaiya, sorry for the delay! I missed this question. We're hoping to better organize the forum so that this won't happen. I cannot view the exact reasons your job applications were closed, but it seems your most recent experience teaching was almost 4 years ago. Despite having a teaching license, Middle East jobs are highly competitive and experience is extremely important. I assume that is why it was closed. If you want to get back into teaching by teaching abroad, you could consider applying to ESL teaching positions: https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=All&jcat=ESL+Teaching&lvl=All&sub=All
