I don't see any teaching positions posted for August 2016 in UAE. When should I expect for to them be posted?
Hi Monique,
You can expect these to be posted around late October to early November. Please subscribe to our newsletter (bottom right of our website) or check our job board periodically leading up to that time to stay up to date.
Hope that helps, Janice
Yes it does!! Thank you soo much!
Hi Janice, I applied for couple of the teaching jobs for Aug 16 in AUH (on the website). I noticed after a week the applications I applied for are closed! I am wondering what does this mean. Does this mean I am not qualified?! Also I will be holding a masters degree by the upcoming August, should I take this in consideration as if I am overqualified for these positions just by holding a masters degree (which I mentioned in my information)?! I am just not sure of the closed applications status and need answers if you do not mind Janice. Especially that I am a certified teacher from the state of Michigan, USA with many years of experience in different schools for different grade levels. I thought I would fit perfectly to these positions! Please let me know about your answer.
Thank You!
Hi Nancy, thanks for your question. It seems the main piece missing from your teaching profile is that you haven't filled in your experience! We can't see this on our end -- please let me know if you have filled it. Once you have, please feel free to apply to jobs again.
Good luck, Janice
Hello Janice,
I also applied for positions slated for August 2016 and the position closed pretty quickly. Does this mean something is missing from my profile as well? Or that I am not qualified? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi Janice. Im Farrah. Im a qualified teacher here in Malaysia. I have many years of experience in teaching Physics, Maths and Science. I already applied a few job positions in UAE. But im scared that its closed quite fast. And one more thing, Is it im being an Asian will be a disadvantage to teach abroad? I have a UK first degree and proficient in English. Im teaching all my subjects in English. Please help me Janice to look into my profile and tell me what I can do to improve it. Thanks
Hi Janice,
I have the same problem as Nancy. I applied and within a week i noticed it had marked them as closed. Does that mean I'm not qualified?
Thank you,
Zara
I also have the same question as Zara and Farrah. I have applied for a few positions, but have not heard anything yet regarding the application. I am wondering what the next steps are, now that I have applied.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Richard, it seems most of your experiences are fairly general in terms of subject. For ADEC positions, they require very relevant experience. For example, if they are hiring high school math teachers, you will need at least 2 years of math teaching experience to high schoolers. Since your experience is still relatively general, but you do have a teaching license, I highly recommend you apply to teaching positions in Qatar, which is also open to new teaching grads: https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=Qatar&jcat=All&lvl=All&sub=All Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hi Janice, do you know what location in Chicago the in person/skype interviews are usually held? Also are the interviews usually held on a week day or weekend?
Thank you
Hi Meghan, all ADEC interviews are hosted at hotels. Unfortunately the day of the week is completely random, but will definitely be between Sunday and Thursday (because Friday and Saturday is considered the weekend there.)
How much notice will be given if we are notified for an interview? I have to have my Leave of Absence paperwork into my employer at least 5 working days in advance.
Hi Erin, unfortunately we don't have the dates yet, as it is set out by ADEC, and we probably won't know until towards the middle or end of January. They typically give about 2 weeks notice, and we will contact you ASAP when we get the dates. Hope that works for you. Thank you for your patience!
hey Nancie! same problem I am facing, please review my resume and let me know in order to improve my job hunt.
Hi Tahira, it seems like you haven't filled out your dashboard completely. Please make sure you fill it out before you continue applying for jobs: https://www.teachaway.com/dashboard?firstLogin=1
I have a question that I can't seem to get answered: I graduated from uni about 4 years ago and have been spending the past few years teaching English in France and Spain. However, I need to complete a few exams to receive my teaching certificate - two of which I will do by March here in France, and the other is a First Aid/CPR certification that must be done in my home state of Michigan. What I need to know is: If I make a trip home in early April and finish this task, will I be eligible to start work in August? Or would it be better to apply for a January start date?
Hi Megan, if your license is valid starting in August, you should be able to teach by then. It will also depend on the state, in terms of how soon they can issue the license. I'd recommend double checking with your state's Department of Education for these timelines.
The same thing is happening to me, I have been applying since October and nothing. I've updated everything I think I needed and still nothing - would you mind looking over my profile and giving me some feedback ?
Thanks in advance!
I took a look at your profile and it seems you have good experience under your belt. The only reason that a placement coordinator may have chosen to not proceed with you at this time, is that some schools will require an undergraduate degree that matches the subject (for example BSc along with a teaching license to teach science). I encourage you to keep applying to positions for subjects you have taught in, Lisa! Good luck.
Hi Janice, thanks for taking the time to answer everyone's questions. I applied earlier this week to teach in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. How long does it take for a candidate to be contacted? And I saw that In-person interviews are held between January 23rd to the 24th. Does his mean that I am late?
Hi Gillian, happy to help. You can check the status of your job applications on your dashboard. Typically, if you are a candidate of interest, you'll hear back from a placement coordinator within two weeks, but this may vary depending on the program and school as well.
There are sometimes last minute positions that appear past the in-person interview dates as well, so you can keep an eye out for these.
Good Afternoon Janice,
I have logged into my account and noticed that the two jobs that I applied for have been closed. Just wondering what that means for me. Is there anything I'm missing and need to fit the requirements for the positions that I've applied for?
Thank you, Naomi Taylor
Hi Naomi, I don't have the specific reasons marked on your account, but looking at your profile, I think it is because your social studies experience was not recent enough for that particular position. For the counselor position, a minimum of 3 years experience as a counselor is required.
Hey Janice, Thank you for answering everyone's questions. Maybe you can help me as well. I am enrolling in an ABCTE course in order to become a certified teacher in the State of Florida or internationally. However, before I enroll, will this allow me to reach the criteria in order to teach in the U.A.E? I meet all of the qualifications for a job in the U.A.E. I have almost 4 years experience, TEFL Certification, a Bachelor's degree, teaching abroad experience, etc. However, my Bachelor's degree is in Marketing Management and I am not a licensed teacher. I know that TEFL is not enough for the U.A.E. Will ABCTE give me the licensing I need?
Best, Miss A
I also applied to teach elementary in Dubai and it says my application is closed. Can you take a look please? Thanks
Hi Marilys, I can't view the particular reason why your application was closed, but for the most recent application, that position requires a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification teaching experience, and it seems you have just over 2 years. I'd recommend taking a look at English teaching positions that require 2 years of teaching experience.
Hi Janice, Are there any teaching positions that do not require a certification? I have been teaching for a total of 17 years and at least seven of those years are on the collegiate level . My concentration area is English. Please advice...
Hi Demetrerius, you can apply for ESL teaching jobs that don't require a certification: https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=All&jcat=ESL+Teaching&lvl=All&sub=All
I have a Masters Degree in Special Education and the grades in which I am certified to teach are 7-12. I can teach one grade below which allows be to teach 6th grade as well. During the 4 years of my teaching experience I have taught Math and Science. I'm applying for such jobs however my applications are being closed pretty quickly. I'm trying to figure out if my profile is accurate or if I am missing something. I know the application process is competitive however I am trying to secure a job for August 2016 in Abu Dhabi or Dubai and I just want to make sure I am not hurting my chances. Can you take a look at my profile?
Regards, Dana Pegram
Hi Dana, sorry I missed this question. One thing that I see is that under your experiences on your profile, you have not clicked that these experiences are "post-qualification" experiences. Double check if they are, and please go into the individual experiences you have added and edit them to make sure this box is checked as our recruiters could potentially miss your profile if they aren't. Make sure you keep applying to relevant math teaching experiences too. Cheers!
Hi Janice, I am a "newbie" to Teach Away who has submitted an application. May you please take a look at my CV and let me know what are my chances of getting a job in Dubai or any other areas in the U. A. E.
Warm regards, L. Joy McKenzie
Hi Leria, it seems your profile is filled out properly. Please make sure you apply to teaching positions relevant to your experience and certification.
Hello Janice I am from Uzbekistan. I am hoping to have been hired by UAE schools as a teacher of English or teacher assistant? What are the chances?
I wanted to know if you could look over my profile and tell me if there is something I need to add or take away. I would love the chance to teach in UAE or Kuwait. I have nine years of teaching experience and experience as a Training Officer as well.I would do a great job if they present me with a chance.
Hi Katrina, thanks for your question. It seems your profile is complete! My main advice to you would be to continue to apply to relevant Elementary teaching positions that are interest of you to increase your chances.
Hi Janice I applied for 2 jobs but I haven't heard anything back. I'm a qualified Montessori teacher and was looking to work in Dubai or Abu dhabi for August 2016 I've 8 years of experience teaching. Do you think I have a good chance of getting a job??thanks for your time Michelle
Hi Michelle, it seems your profile has not been completed (missing education, certification, and experience). I'll be hosting a workshop on March 3rd where I'll walkthrough the different steps to completing your profile. If you can make it, I encourage you to register: http://go.teachaway.com/job-application-workshop/
Hi Janice
Is there any way to remove an application? I applied for a job without the necessary requirements. I also need to know, do you work with different agents for each position applied for?
Thank you! Adele
Hi Adele, in this particular case, that's fine, our placement coordinator will close the application if you are not qualified for it. If you apply for a position and a placement coordinator tries to contact you but it no longer interests you, you can let them know directly and they will cancel the position.
To answer your second question, generally speaking, each placement coordinator is in charge of a different school. So if you're applying to several positions and you're invited to pre-screens, the questions could be similar but conducted by a different recruiter.
Hope that clarifies things!
Do we have any dates for the upcoming IPIs? I missed the last one due to it becoming full.

It seems you have not been in the education industry for the past few years, so it will be difficult to find a teaching job in the Middle East, where positions are especially competitive.
I made application for a teaching position in February but have not heard from a Teach Away agent yet. I am very interested to teach in Abu Dabi. Could you please check my application and give me some feedback. I would appreciate that very much. Thank you T
Your profile and application looks complete. Many of the Middle East positions are highly competitive, which is why they are being closed. You seem very qualified, and I encourage you to keep applying. There are some new opportunities teaching Math and English in the UAE which may be of interest to you: https://www.teachaway.com/2016/03/08/550-teachers-now-needed-uae
Hi Janice, Can you please provide me with a link to the best jobs I qualify for? I have 1 year of ESL teaching at an institute. I have 1 year of teaching at a Junior College, 13 years of teaching at a university all in Korea, plus 1 more year of teaching at a language school here in China. I have a BAs (Geography), and I obtained my CELTA certificate Feb.2015. Best regards, Ronny
Hi Ronny, with your international ESL teaching experience, you are well positioned to teach ESL abroad. You can view all our ESL jobs here: https://www.teachaway.com/teaching-jobs-abroad?loc=All&jcat=ESL+Teaching&lvl=All&sub=All
Hi Janice, could you please look over my profile and offer me some advise. My husband and I are both applying to teach in the UAE.
Hi Janice When will interviews take place in New Zealand? Thanks
Hello Janice. Sorry to boder you again. Did you saw my CV? You told me that I don´t have experience but I have 8 years experience giving classes in portuguese education industry and in this moment I`m teaching. Is not enough for the job?? Thank you. Kind regards José Bruno Catrau
Hello Janice, I recently applied for positions to teach in the UAE and was contacted by someone for an interview on last week (3/9/16). The Teach Away agent left a message and indicated that she would phone again because she wanted to schedule an interview. I've been checking my email and making certain I didn't miss another call. Just wanted to follow-up. Is there a number that I should use to return the call? Thanks so much in advance! Kimberley :-)
Hi Janice, I've only started applying for jobs in UAE in the last month. Are there many Primary Teaching jobs going to open up between now and August or will I have to start waiting for next year? Thanks! Rachel
Hi Janice, I am just completed my dashboard and had a prescreen phone interview. I have applied for several jobs and am most interested in teaching in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Egypt, other places in the middle east will be fine if housing is provided. All jobs I have applied for just say submitted pending review of a coordinator. Have I applied for too many?
I have a PhD in Education and I applied for a couple of jobs. Seems strange not to get some response. Any advice? Thanks.
hi I have a fouth years certifcate of teaching English as foreign language and I want to teach abroad . Are there any chance or job application ? Please answer me .
Hello, I am curious to know why the Ministry of Education in the UAE pays educators more than the Abu Dhabi public school system. I am interested in taking on a new experience and this is one of the questions that I have among others.
Hi Janice, I have 13 years of teaching experience in English .I don't have a TEFL certificate but I have a BA and MA in English .Do I have any chance of getting recruited ?
Dear Janice. I am very keen to apply for an English position, but am currently teaching at a school that works on the Southern Hemisphere school year (Jan. - Dec.). Is it possible to apply for a position with the Aug 16 intake and then take up the position (if application is successful) in December 16 / January 2017?
Many thanks, Malcolm
Dear Janice, I have already applied for several vacancies in UAE but unsuccessfully. May I ask you to look at my profile and let me know how I can increase my chances to get a job? Thank you. Alice
For the past 5 years I taught safety in the oil industry but I previously taught mostly middle school for 9 years in Texas back in the 80's. My Teaching Certificate is still good would you look over my dashboard and make any recommendations for landing a teaching job in UAE. Should I get a job there I was thinking of just going by myself and coming home on breaks. Is that practical? Thanks
Hi All;
I just wanted to give you all an overall overview of what is needed ,In terms of UAE-specific positions, the general requirements across the board include: 1. A Bachelor's degree, at minimum 2. A current teaching license from your local government, relevant to whatever subject you wish to teach (for example, if you wanted to teach math, you will need a teaching license in math; a TESL or TEFL is not a teaching license) 3. Two years of relevant teaching experience at the required teaching level (for example, if you were applying to teach high school level English, then you would need to have had at least two years of teaching high school English; elementary or middle school level would not be accepted) 4. A TESL/TEFL certification is not required for all positions, but it would certainly make you a more competitive candidate
Do keep in mind, it is a very competitive field, so keep an open mind and apply to the jobs that interest you.
Good luck all with your applications
Hello Madam,
I fulfill all the criteria mentioned above and have applied for ADEC for Aug 2016. Would you kindly go through my resume and give your suggestions, wherever necessary, to improvise it for better prospects?
Regards, Sweta Pillay

What are my chances of being placed in UAE?
Thanks Dene
Hi Janice, I just completed my profile and applied for a Social Studies position in the UAE. When I hit apply for the job... I didn't realize my profile was incomplete. I have now completed the profile and was wondering is the completed profile the one that is being seen by possible employers. Can you take a look at my profile?
Thank you so much Jon-Maria
Hey! Is this the job in Abu Dhabi? I did exactly the same as you, I applied before my profile was complete! Have you heard anything back? Thanks, Sania
hi Janice, thanks a lot for all your answers , you have been very communicating, but i noticed you havent responded for awhile now, i have two questions , the first one is : could you look through my profile and comment on the shortcomings so i could work on them? and what are my chances of getting a good job in UAE. Thanks ,i would appreciate your response.
Hi Janice, I applied for a job in the UAE but it was very quick to close. What does this mean? Checked or not checked? I would really appreciate some feedback please. Thank you. Sania.
Hi Janine,
I have applied for Mathematics Teaching Job, but the job just closes, I'm wondering if there's fault in my profile. Kindly check my profile and suggest how I can fix it.
Hi Janine May you go through my profile and advise if there is anything I need to update.
Hello, 37/male/USA. BA degree in English, Native speaker. Some tutoring experience but no teaching experience yet. Perhaps I can be a full-time tutor/assistant at a school? Thank you.
I applied for 5 teaching positions at the end of May. All of them closed. Is there something wrong with my profile and qualifications?
I decided to try again and so I applied for 3 teaching positions in the UAE. Is it too late in the year to be applying for these positions? I am specifically applying to schools in Dubai.
Kind regards, Naidene
Hi Janice, I applied for a kindergarten post in the UAE and I see it is closed even though I have been teaching kindergarten for the past six years... On my application I used the South African equivalent which is Grade R, can you give me any feedback on why I was not considered? Thanks for your time, Nix
