Hi I recently was short listed to have an in person interview to teach in Abu Dhabi. While I am very excited to be considered for such an amazing job I have been looking at the private school information for my kids and they're rather expensive. What is a comfortable monthly salary for a family of 4 (me, husband, son 4yrs old, daughter 2yrs old)? My husband is not a teacher however he will want to work. Has it been easy for spouses of teachers to find employment? Also I have a small dog. What are the rules for bringing pets with you. Thanks!

    Hi Mariah, congrats on your first step of finding a teaching job abroad! Just wanted to share some info that might help you out. For Abu Dhabi public schools (ADEC), tuition for dependents is not included but for Abu Dhabi private schools, they will typically provide tuition for 1 dependent. However, the wage for ADEC is much higher (at least $1000 USD a month more). Pets are typically fine, but you will need some paperwork. I recommend emailing your placement coordinator to double check for your particular program. Also, I'm not too sure for spouses finding jobs -- hopefully someone else in the community will be able to answer your question.

    I have a similar question. Can anyone give his or her experience teaching in ADEC with dependents? What is a typical day like for you and your dependent? How far away are you from your dependent? Is it expensive leasing a car and paying for private school? Thanks in advance
