Hi,
Could someone please tell me what doe it mean when the application submitted says closed.
Hi Rhona, unfortunately that means your application was unsuccessful. Please make sure you double check the job requirements of the positions you're applying for and ensure you have relevant teaching experience. Good luck!
Hi Janice, I have been in the same position and have checked and meet the job requirements. This is not a very good recruitment process when there is no medium to get feedback as to why you were unsuccessful. It has proved to be a huge waste of my time if I am entirely honest.
Hi Emma, sorry to hear about that and thank you for your feedback. We're constantly trying to improve our recruitment process to try to make it more and more intuitive and streamlined. Unfortunately we receive thousands of job applications monthly, and we are unable to provide feedback on every closed job application at this time.
I'm glad you posted on our forum to let us know though. I took a look at your profile and it seems you haven't uploaded your teaching licenses under the "certifications" section. The positions you have applied for do require a teaching license, so that was why the jobs were closed. If you could upload them before applying to more PE teaching positions, that would definitely help you move along the recruitment process.
I'm happy to help if you have any more questions!
Not certain why my applications were rejected, I did meet the qualifications.
I fall just short of the 3years of specific teaching experience in Science specifically. I feel this is a good time to head overseas, as I have no dependents, and could start savings toward that next stage of life; as well as travel. If I do take an annual contract within my country, its typically till December; and if I was more than 70% sure of success my aim would be to do interim tutoring for students nearby. Feedback on specific shortfalls would be good therefore (..I have postgraduate teachers adaptions [which I followed well/enjoyed do so, as I did some pregraduate psychology]; majored though on human biology{biochemistry & physiology; for teaching HS-biology, typically micro or botany is also required; though I'm thankful not to be in; as having seen this through to Masters and Industry level; I wouldn't be satisfied to look at in a lesser form}; so now I'm teaching High School Physical Science - Physics&Chemistry; -followed Chemistry through to 3rd year level .... I develop my teachers files section by section: many times it is better to know how a field is purely in the highly professional light before it gets chunked down into graspable or principled sections).....any case yes, its a good time of life to teach abroad, aware of people who have done so and have greatly enjoyed the stint, many times people living in secured communes. Though yes its a finicky thing to know could it be this year, or perhaps next year, and so to manage my path here better. ...Admin-wise I just realized I did not upload my teaching license, though its present in a document.docx with other scanned-in certificates.
Hi Frederick, it looks like you have a great educational background in science, and we definitely encourage you to apply. It seems your teaching license has been uploaded into the certificates section, so that is fine for now. Please note that the job requirements will note the number of years of teaching experience required, and this refers to post-qualification experience only. Other than that, feel free to keep applying for science teaching jobs!
Hi I am Venecia, I am waiting to hear from the recruiters. I keep sending applications but, I have not gotten a response as yet. I would like to know if there is a problem with my application.
Hi I am Marsha, I am experiencing the same issue of seeing jobs that I have applied for closed. Hence I need to know where I am going wrong and what needed to be done to improve my application. Please respond to message Janice when you get the chance.
Thank you.
Hi Marsha, it does seem like your job application is complete, so there may be other reasons why those job applications are being closed. Unfortunately, the majority of the schools in the Middle East are run by American or South African principals and educators. Please keep in mind that schools and principals will typically prefer teachers with experience teaching their curriculum.
Hello. I was very deceived to see that all the jobs I applied for were marked closed. Would be great if I can have some advice about this since I believe I meet all the requirements. Thank you in anticipation TeachAway team.
Hi Janice L. My background is in Social Work and my only experience in formal teaching is just 4 months long at the college level (my profile indicates 1 yr as there are no other option that will reflect that I have any experience at at).
I therefore would like to know if there are possibilities of me obtaining a job through this medium to teach English with my professional background? Can I obtain employment through teach away for School Social Workers or any Social Work jobs?
Is it useless for me to be apart of this forum being a Social Worker?
Hi Tasha, unfortunately we don't have any positions like that at this time, and most of our positions relating to that would require an administrator qualification.
I have administrator Qualifications! does that mean I will get the job? I am American Citizen as well. I read that in the Middle East they hire Americans. I speak Arabic and I have two bachelors and a Masters. awaiting for your answer.
Hi Susan, we can't guarantee you'll get a job, but your qualifications sound great. Please make sure you fill out your dashboard completely before applying to jobs. Here's some resources and videos to guide you: http://go.teachaway.com/job-application-resource-videos/
Hi Janice, I am happy to see that you are replying and guiding the candidates. Could you please check my documents and guide me too. I am a certified teacher in Toronto. I uploaded all my documents and applied for many jobs but they are all closed now. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Thank you
Hi Ruhi,
I've just taken a look at your profile, and the positions you have applied for require a Bachelor's degree or Master's in Education. I hope you find this information useful.
Hi Lauren, My name is Lawanda Johnson. Can you tell me what is the status of my application?
Hi Lawanda,
I see that you've applied to two of our 'direct to school' positions, which means your application has been sent directly to the school that is hiring for review. Because these direct to school positions are external, the initial application process can take a little longer than recruitment managed by the Teach Away team. Hopefully you will receive an update on these applications very soon.
Hi Lauren, maybe you can help me too. Applied to 'direct to school'. Got some weeks email, interview request. Replied directly. No reply. After a couple of days, I emailed again. No reply. Yesterday, I have sent again an email as holidays are approaching. Still nothing. I don't think that they didn't get my emails. Job is still open for application here and my status is still 'submitted'. I am quite clueless what to do now.
Hi Sandra;
Applications for ‘Direct to School’ jobs are sent directly to the school that posted the vacancy. These applications are not reviewed by Teach Away's Placement Coordinators. Any communication regarding these positions takes place directly between applicants and the hiring institution. However, you will still be able to track your application status in your Teach Away Dashboard.
Keep an open mind and good luck with your application!

Hey everyone! I am Ammar. I am a 21 year old in India with a Bachelors in Computer Applications who is trying to get into the teaching realm. I recently completed my TEFL course (in-class) from ACT. I've had no prior teaching experience except the Teaching Practice provided in the TEFL course and my degree obviously isn't an educational one. However, I am still trying to get real experience as quickly as I can so that I am able to hopefully secure employment in other countries (any). That being said, I would like to ask everyone here (especially those who are experienced) that considering my nationality and profile, is pursuing work as an English teacher outside India a realistic option? I would like to hear your opinions! By the way, nice being here :D
