How can I get an English teaching job in South Korea seeing I'm from West Africa?

Greetings everyone!

I am glad to be a part of this community. Thank you for the opportunity to ask questions.

I am interested in teaching English Language in South Korea but one of the criteria is to be a citizen of a country where the primary language is English. In my country (Nigeria), English is our official language but not our native language. Nevertheless, English language being our language of communication has been developed over the years. I would like to know if opportunities for applicants from West Africa can be given. I have taken the Test of Proficiency in English (TOFEL) which is a major test for English skills. I would be grateful to receive information on any open English teaching positions in SK that would accept teaches from West Africa.

    I think you'd find it very difficult. If you have a degree (or preferably post-graduate degree) specifically in English Education and are a licensed teacher, it might just about be possible, perhaps at a university. However, most English academies in South Korea are for profit businesses and a major part of their advertising/publicity relies on the idea of whom the paying public perceive to be "native speakers", so you would probably find it very hard to find something in the private sector, regardless of you qualifications and experience.
