How long does it take for school to get back to you, after applying through teach away?

Hello,

I'm currently doing my PGCE, I don't have long left till I complete my teacher training course. I really want to teach abroad, specifically in the UAE. I have applied for a number of posts through teachaway. I haven't received replies, it just says 'submitted'. How long does it usually take for a response?

    Hi Farzana,

    Thanks for your note.

    How long it takes to hear back really depends on whether you've applied for a position that is being handled by the school or by Teach Away's recruitment team. It also depends on the hiring timeline. If your application status is "submitted", this likely means it is being reviewed and that you should hear back soon. In the event you do not qualify for the position or that the hiring school decides not to hire for the position at the current time, you may notice the status change to closed. In this case, you will not receive an email or call from our team.

    How long ago did you apply for these positions?

    Further, I recommend completing your teacher training and adding this to your profile when you're ready to apply for more roles, as this could go a long way in making you a more desirable candidate for hiring schools.

    Hi,

    I am Johanna, a Spanish language teacher. I am really interested in being working in Uk. My application status is "submitted" almost six weeks ago. Is it that way?

    Firstly, thanks for your patience on this. It definitely doesn't typically take our team this long to get back to applicants on their app status.

    Good Morning,

    I have completed the TEFL International course through Teach Away recently. However as I have started applying to many jobs in the middle-east I haven't gotten any response yet from the Placement Coordinators. I was told that Students of the TEFL course provided by OISE and Teach Away are given preference. I am already a teacher here in Saudi Arabia and have over 8 years of experience in teaching Math and English, as well as coaching sports. In essence, my experience and qualifications should not hinder my chances. I am in touch with the OISE staff who supported me throughout the course and they mentioned a placement coordinator should get in contact with me shortly. I would like to know the turnaround time for me to get some results. I have applied to many positions across the middle-east, in the UAE, KSA, etc. Still no response.

    Hi Ismail,

    Thanks for the comment. Like applying for any job, applying for a teaching position on Teach Away is not a cut and dry formulaic thing. I can tell you for sure that having a TEFL certification makes you a more desirable candidate to hiring managers and to Teach Away recruitment staff. However, this doesn't mean that your application necessarily takes precedence over those who do not have a TEFL certification (maybe their teaching experience is more in line with the specific role, maybe they've been a licensed teacher in the exact curriculum of the hiring school).

    There's lots to think about here, but at the end of the day if you apply for a job that Teach Away recruitment staff are handling, you will hear from a PC in the event you qualify for the role.

    I encourage you to keep applying for jobs! Have you looked beyond the Middle East? How about for an ESL teaching position now that you have a TEFL cert (ESL jobs here --> https://www.teachaway.com/esl-jobs)?

    Hello,I applied for several teaching positions on Teach Away website on 18th May,2018 currently my application status on my teach away account page is still showing "submitted ". I was expecting to see my application status changed to " under review ".What is exactly wrong.

    Thanks for your question!

    And don't worry -- nothing is wrong.

    You'll notice that some jobs will show updated statuses faster than others - some postings are managed by our recruitment team here at Teach Away while others are managed by the hiring school itself. Keep an eye on your teacher dashboard (https://teachaway.com/dashboard) to see if any of the jobs you've applied for begin to show updated statuses over the next week or so.

    Also, Monday was a holiday for us in Canada, so no one was in the office yesterday to make sure applications were moving along.

    I am a PGCE graduate from Cape Town, South Africa. I have applied for several positions. East Asia and Middle East.
    I have adequate experience as well and received no feedback in the past 3 months.
    Is something wrong with the process or website?

    I have a Honours degree in Education(English and History) from the University of Namibia , I also hold a certificate from the same University that proves I am certified to teach English as a Second Language and as a medium of instruction .
    I applied for several positions (UAE and China), since it's my first time applying..I just wanted to find out how the application process works..
