Am I doing something wrong?

Hello Janice, 

I applied for the special education and counseling jobs in Qatar. Both jobs have been closed as of today. I have been checking daily. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong when applying or on my resume. I thought I was at least qualified for the special education position, if not the counseling position. Is there something else I need to be doing? I'm just really disappointed. Please advise. Thanks.

    Hi Kenya, for the autism position, they were looking for very specific experience relating to autistic students. It also seems for the two Qatar positions, a minimum of 2 years of counselor experience is required.

    Thanks for replying Janice. I read your comment above and I was a bit confused. When you mentioned "the two Qatar positions" you said a minimum of 2 years counseling was required, but one of the positions I applied for was the Special Education Teachers - Private School Foundation - Doha, Qatar, which I thought I matched the qualifications. I have a BS in Special Education. I also have experience with RTI at the elementary and high school level. I also have experience with Autism spectrum in the regular classroom in an inclusion setting. Based on the job requirements, I thought I was a match:
    Although, I have a Masters in School Counseling, I am fine with a job as a Special Education teacher. This is how the qualifications and requirements read in the advertisement:

    "Level of Education Required: Master
    Major: Special Education
    Teaching Experience: Experience with RTI and children with ASD
    Additional Requirements: One degree MUST be in-person. Partial or fully online degrees are not recognized by Qatar immigration. Applicants without in-person degree cannot be considered"

    I just want to make sure that I didn't get turned down because they were matching my qualifications with the wrong job. I got the impression that the job you were speaking of having "specific training in Autism" was the first job I applied for, The Autism Specialist. I understand that I don't have the training for that position. I just don't want to miss out on the Special Ed Teaching position if there is a chance that I could be in the running. Please advise and thanks in advance.

    Hi Kenya, happy new year! The counselor position requires a in-person degree and 2 years of counselling position. I'm asking the placement coordinator about the Spec Ed teaching position for you right now and will keep you posted.
