Are references contacted right away?

If I put references up are they required to complete anything straight away or are their details simply there if you gain an interview?

    Hi Jasmin, they are not contacted right away, so you can fill this in later if you prefer as well. Once a placement coordinator is in touch with you for a pre-screen and you move on to the next stage, they will ask for your permission before checking your references.
