Can I apply for a P.E. position?

Hello! I have been the Physical Education Department Chair and a P.E. Teacher in Chicago for the past three years. Prior to teaching in Chicago, I taught in Indiana for two years. However, my Indiana teaching licenses have expired and will be renewed in a few weeks. Can I still apply for a P.E. position? I am also married with two small children and we lived in China in 2008. Is having a family going to be an issue? Is this normal?

    Hi Chevonne, if you're able to renew your teaching license and have them prior to departure, then you should be good. Please make sure you have the license available prior to your visa application as well. Feel free to apply! Having a family is fairly common with the teachers we place as well. You can check for dependent benefits under the "Teaching Job Benefits" section of each individual posting to see what works best for your family. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hello Janice,

    I just got a call for my pre-interview. However, I did apply for several other positions with diff accommodations. Do you know if I would be able to negotiate any of the accommodations?

    Accommodations will depend on each program and school (as to whether they are provided and included, as well as whether it is a stipend or if they help you find it). You can ask your placement coordinator for more information about the accommodation directly.
