How to verify the credibility of a school/employer?

Hi!

 

I have received many emails from schools with job descriptions. I try to "google" these schools and places to see if a previous teacher has published a job review somewhere, but is there a more official way to verify that these schools or potential employers are legitimate institutions and that I am not getting myself in... trouble? Any resources would be useful!

    Hi Sarah;

    Welcome to the forum and great question. Your first resource can be the school description segment on the job posting so that you can get a better idea of the school itself. Additionally, googling the school is a very good resource, you can also do some research on websites like glassdoor and gooverseas for more information.

    Do keep in mind that you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions that you still might have from your placement coordinator, and if it is a Direct To School position that you have applied to, make sure to ask any questions you might have once you are contacted for the initial interview with the school.
