NQT looking to teach abroad, few questions.

Hi,

I'm a qualified Maths teacher finishing my NQT year. I'm hoping to move to the Middle East and teach in September. Just a couple of questions answered would be much appreciated:

Firstly, I would prefer to hold off on asking my head teacher for a reference until I have applied for jobs and heard back from them. Will this hinder my chances, although I will have a reference from my second in department.

Secondly, being an NQT and this being my first full year teaching am I likely to get a position as I am a maths teacher and we are in high demand worldwide.

Thirdly, what sort of wage should I be looking at and would private or public schools be the better option?

    From what I have searched online, UAE public schools offer better pay options than private schools. Someone correct me if Im wrong. Goodluck!

    Hi Jamie, we definitely understand about the reference part, so that is an optional field to fill out until you're later in the recruitment process. Also, even if you fill it out, after your initial pre-screen interview, your placement coordinator will double check to see if they can contact you reference. (2) For positions in the Middle East, they typically require at least 2-3 years of relevant teaching experience because the Middle East is in quite high demand as well. Currently, we have a few teaching positions in Qatar that welcome new grads, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like we're hiring for Maths teachers at this moment.
